This module introduces analyses of the purpose of the Danish Public School (Folkeskolen), democracy and citizenship in a philosophical, Bildung-theoretical and professional-ethical perspective. The module revolves around students’ attempt to relate to the values of the school, and their attempt to connect them to the teaching profession with respect for the cultural and religious diversity currently influencing both Folkeskolen and the surrounding society.
The knowledge base of the module
Philosophy, History of ideas, formational/bildung theory, the science of religion. The module r draws on various theories related to the competency objectives of the module. The module is based on national and international research on formation, democracy and citizenship, professional ethics and religious meetings as well as cultural meetings.
